Does omalizumab affect vaccinations or immune system activity?

Omalizumab does not suppress the immune system as some other treatments do, and standard vaccinations are generally safe. However, your specialist will review your overall health, other medications, and recent immunisations before treatment. If you have upcoming live vaccines, your consultant will check the timing and safety of these. 

If you’re planning to travel to an area with a high risk of parasitic infections, please let your consultant know, as omalizumab blocks IgE, which is needed to fight parasitic infections.
