Accessibility Statement

This website is run by Welbeck. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

This website's accessibility

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text

  • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software and there is no PDF size indication

  • we do not mark some icons as “decorative” or hidden from screen readers, so some icons will be read out by screen readers

  • some of our button styles do not meet sufficient colour contrast requirements against specific banner backgrounds

Feedback and contact information

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Welbeck is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille please email: website@welbeckhealth.com

We’ll consider your request and get back to you in 7 working days.

Non‑accessible content

Missing/insufficient focus indication on interactive controls

Some interactive elements do not show a visible keyboard focus indicator (for example, the accordion button removes focus styles). This makes it difficult for keyboard users and people with low vision to see where they are on the page.

This fails WCAG 2.1 – 2.4.7 Focus Visible and is also at risk against WCAG 2.2 – 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) and 2.4.13 Focus Appearance (minimum visibility and contrast for focus indicators). We will add a clearly visible outline with sufficient contrast and ensure focus is not obscured.

Planned fix: introduce :focus-visible styles with at least a 2px outline and adequate contrast, and review any CSS that hides or weakens focus states.

Target date: within the next release cycle or by 28 February 2026.

Decorative icons announced to assistive technologies

Some decorative SVG icons (for example, the chevron inside the accordion button) are exposed to screen readers, which can create noisy or confusing announcements.

This fails WCAG 1.1.1 Non‑text Content because decorative graphics must be hidden from assistive technologies (for example with aria-hidden="true" and focusable="false" for inline SVG). We will hide purely decorative icons from the accessibility tree.

Planned fix: add aria-hidden="true" to decorative SVGs and ensure they cannot receive focus.

Target date: within the next release cycle or by 28 February 2026

Disproportionate burden

We have considered whether fixing the issues above would be a disproportionate burden under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. The Government Digital Service guidance explains that you may claim disproportionate burden only after a documented assessment that weighs the costs and resources against the benefits for users with disabilities, and this must be kept under review.

At this time, we are not claiming disproportionate burden for these issues. The Department for Work and Pensions’ and Department for Education’s accessibility guidance further notes that disproportionate burden claims must be thoroughly evidenced, signed off appropriately, and are not appropriate where fixes are low‑effort or where an organisation has sufficient resources.

Given these problems can be addressed with targeted code changes (CSS focus styles and ARIA attributes), we will fix them rather than claim disproportionate burden.

How we’re tracking these fixes

We will test changes with keyboard‑only navigation and screen readers and update this statement as we complete each fix. Guidance on writing and maintaining accessibility statements on GOV.UK informs our approach.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of www.welbeck.com. This includes:

  • reviewing and improving document and image accessibility

  • improving colour contrast and focus indicators

  • enhancing keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility

  • ensuring content reflows correctly at higher zoom and text spacing adjustments

  • carrying out periodic accessibility audits

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 29 January 2026. It was last reviewed on 4 February 2026.

This website was last tested on 4 February 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

We carried out a self-assessment done by the marketing team and our developer agency.

The most viewed pages were tested using Microsoft Narrator, keyboard tabbing and colour contrast checkers by our website team.

We plan to further audit the website to ensure it continues to meet WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
