What is the HPV vaccine?

The HPV vaccine programme was first rolled out in 2008 for girls, and in 2019 it was expanded to boys. It’s now offered to children ages 12 to 13 in all schools in the UK. The vaccine helps protect against HPV, which is spread through skin-to-skin contact (usually when having sex). If you missed getting your HPV vaccine at school, speak to your GP.
