What other treatments are usually tried before omalizumab?

Omalizumab is recommended for people with chronic urticaria or angioedema that hasn’t improved with standard medications. These usually include H1 antihistamines (such as cetirizine, fexofenadine, or loratadine), sometimes combined with H2 antihistamines (like famotidine), and leukotriene receptor antagonists (such as montelukast). If symptoms continue despite these treatments, your consultant may suggest omalizumab as the next step to help bring your condition under control.
