Mohs micrographic surgery removes skin cancer layer by layer, with each layer examined under a microscope during the procedure to ensure all cancerous cells are cleared while preserving the maximum amount of healthy skin. Dr Shah recommends it for basal cell carcinomas and other skin cancers in cosmetically sensitive areas such as the face, or where the cancer has recurred. Mr Shah is an experienced Mohs surgeon and chair of a Skin Cancer MDT, offering this treatment as a same-day outpatient procedure at Welbeck.
If you have multiple moles, a family history of melanoma, or a mole that has changed in size, shape, or colour, an annual professional mole review is advisable. Dr Shah performs a thorough visual examination of all moles and uses dermoscopy to assess any that appear atypical. Suspicious moles can be biopsied or excised on the same day at Welbeck.
Dr Shah treats persistent acne with a combination of prescription topical treatments, oral medication, and, where appropriate, specialist therapies. For established acne scarring, options may include procedures such as punch excision or referral for laser and energy-based treatments. His dedicated acne consultations allow a detailed assessment of both active acne and scarring in one appointment.
Yes, many cysts, lipomas, skin tags, and benign lumps can be assessed and removed on the same day under local anaesthetic at the Welbeck. Dr Shah has over 20 years of surgical dermatology experience, ensuring safe excision with minimal scarring. A histology report is provided for any excised tissue to confirm the diagnosis.
Any new skin lesion that is growing, bleeding, crusting, or changing colour should be assessed promptly by a dermatologist. Dr Shah offers rapid-access mole and lesion checks, with the option of same-day biopsy or excision if needed. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer significantly improves outcomes, so timely specialist review is important.
