About Dan Plev
Mr Plev is has considerable experience in spinal assessment, treatment and surgery, and is a leading surgeon in kyphoplastic cement augmentation for fractures, endoscopic discectomies and nucleoplasties.
He is a guest lecturer at international neurosurgical and spinal conferences, and plays an active role in faculty hands-on teaching courses; he is also involved in various patient support organisations, including the Artificial Disc Replacement Support Group.
His philosophy is to treat patients as he would his own family. He manages his patients in a holistic manner and utilising the least invasive measures when possible to improve the patients’ symptoms.
Mr Dan Plev (MD FANCH), is a graduate of Mainz University. He trained in Phoenix, AZ, USA and completed his neurosurgical training in Munich, Germany.
He was awarded an MD for his experimental immunohistological work on proliferation markers in gliomas and meningiomas. During his training, he gained considerable experience in treating spinal disorders; ranging from degenerative conditions to tumour work.
His next plan for treating spinal conditions is with stem cell therapies, which he hopes will be available in the very near future.
He has adopted a stepladder approach to treatment for his patients: starting with identifying the issue and treating it as conservatively as possible with physiotherapy and injectional treatment, then considering minimally invasive procedures such as nucleoplasty and endoscopy, and can then discussing fusions and disc replacements, when absolutely necessary.
Mr Plev now works full time in private healthcare. He was a consultant neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospitals until 2009, and until recently, he was part of the multi-disciplinary team at The London Spine Clinic and still works closely with them.
