What is a Nox T3 sleep test?
The Nox T3 sleep test is an innovative at-home assessment that uses advanced technology to accurately record and analyse how your body functions during sleep. It uses a small, portable device to measure key indicators such as breathing patterns, oxygen levels, body position and snoring, giving a clear picture of your sleep quality.
Because the Nox T3 is worn comfortably at home, there’s no need for an overnight hospital stay. The test is non-invasive, simple, and quick to set up, offering a realistic view of your normal sleep routine. Widely regarded as the gold standard in home sleep testing, it delivers accurate, reliable results while you sleep in the comfort of your own bed.
You may be offered a Nox T3 home sleep study if you’ve experienced:
loud snoring, gasping, or choking during sleep
daytime tiredness or sleepiness despite apparently adequate sleep
pauses in breathing or irregular breathing during sleep
frequent waking, restless leg, or limb movements
a throat, nose or ear problem that may affect your breathing during sleep
The Nox T3 sleep monitor can be used to diagnose a range of sleep conditions, including:
obstructive sleep apnoea
periodic limb movement disorder and restless leg syndrome
nose and throat-related sleep disorders
snoring
sleep-related breathing disorders

More information
At a consultation in our dedicated Sleep Centre, you’ll be supplied with the Nox T3 kit and full instructions on how to use it.
The Nox T3 test process:
you attach the device at home – it clips to your T-shirt collar and includes a chest belt, nasal cannula, and finger oxygen probe
you go to sleep as usual, wearing the monitor for that night – it’s battery-powered, compact, and designed to allow movement and normal waking
the next day, you’ll return the equipment, and our team will download the data
one of our sleep specialists reviews the findings and schedules a follow-up consultation to explain your results and plan any treatment
Nox T3 patient instructions
The system is set up in just a few simple steps:
Attach the 2 clips of the device close to the collar of your t-shirt, so it sits on your chest with the display facing upwards.
Take one of the belts provided and snap it into one of the connections at the back of the device. Pull the other end of the belt around your back so it’s lying flat and snap it into the other connection.
Once in place, position the belt around 1 inch below your armpits. Adjust the length of the belt with the attached belt loops if needed.
Take the second belt and snap one end into the abdomen belt connector. Pull the belt around your back and fasten the other connector. The abdomen belt should sit just above your belly button.
Connect the nasal cannula by pressing the end of the tube into the Nox T3 device.
Place the cannula in your nose, making sure the prongs are facing downwards and pull the tubing over your ears to secure.
Place the oximeter on the wrist of one of your arms and attach the finger probe to your index finger. To ensure accurate readings, remove any nail polish beforehand.
To start recording, press once on the middle button on the front panel of the T3 device.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Once the counter is visible on the screen, the study has successfully started.
The Nox T3 home sleep study is very safe and non-invasive. Because you stay in your own home and the equipment records rather than intervening, there’s minimal risk.
You may feel slightly uncomfortable with sensors or tubes in place, or wake to reposition the device. Equipment malfunction is uncommon, and our team will check the data for quality and let you know promptly if there are any issues.
There are a few things you’ll need to do to prepare for the at-home test, including:
ensure you charge the device or replace batteries if instructed
wear comfortable, loose sleepwear
avoid heavy creams or lotions around the neck, chest, or fingers
remove nail polish (to ensure accurate finger oxygen readings)
try to maintain your usual sleep schedule, so the night reflects your normal pattern
You should bring any current sleep devices (for example, CPAP) or sleep logs you have to your follow-up appointment.
Once the test is complete and the equipment returned, your consultant will analyse the results and provide a full explanation at your follow-up consultation, along with clear next steps.
If the results of your Nox T3 study are inconclusive, you may require further testing, such as a neurological sleep study.
The price of the test starts from £695, which includes your comprehensive report. Please note this price does not include any consultation fees.

Frequently asked questions
The Nox T3 device is securely attached to your body throughout the night. Its wireless design means you can move around freely while you sleep, and can also get up to use the bathroom without having to detach the device.
We advise using the monitor on a normal night at home, so that the data reflects your usual sleep pattern. If you travel frequently or do shift work, please discuss this when booking.
Should the monitoring data be insufficient (for example, due to sensor removal during the night), you may be asked to repeat the study. At Welbeck, we’ll check your data quality promptly and let you know if a repeat is necessary.
At Welbeck, we offer a range of at-home sleep tests to suit different needs and comfort levels. One option is the Sunrise device, a near-wireless sleep monitor that doesn’t require nasal tubes. It’s worn discreetly on the chin and measures jaw movement, breathing patterns and other signals to help detect sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea.
While the Sunrise monitor is highly convenient and simple to use, it doesn’t capture the same depth of information as the Nox T3 test. Your consultant will discuss our full range of sleep testing options with you, and recommend the most suitable approach based on your symptoms, lifestyle and clinical needs.
