When should I seek help for a thyroid lump?

Any new lump or growth should be examined by a doctor. You should seek urgent medical help if the thyroid lump is in a child or if you have a thyroid lump and notice any of the following:

  • rapid growth of the lump

  • enlarged neck lymph nodes

  • voice change

  • swallowing or breathing difficulties

  • coughing up blood
