Dr Daniel Keene
Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist
About Daniel Keene
Dr Daniel Keene is a Consultant Cardiologist at Welbeck Heart Health. He is involved in all clinical aspects of general cardiology but his clinical focus is in cardiac electrophysiology and complex devices.
Dr Keene graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009 having received commendations for all his special study modules. In 2013, after completing his foundation years training and core medical training he was appointed a prestigious National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Fellow post in Cardiology based at Imperial College London.
During this time, whilst completing his cardiology training, he was then awarded a highly competitive British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship to address novel issues in implantable cardiac devices leading to the award of his PhD. Following the award of his PhD, and completion of his general cardiology training he was appointed as an Advanced Clinical Training Fellow in Electrophysiology and Devices. This training opportunity led to the development of advanced skills and accreditation in cardiac electrophysiology and both simple and complex cardiac device implantation, as well as their troubleshooting and follow-up.
He has developed highly specialised skills in the implantation of the subcutaneous ICD (including the use of nerve block for analgesia), undertaking advanced training in interventional CRT techniques for complex device implant procedures and has vast experience in all aspects of conduction system pacing (his bundle pacing and left bundle pacing) for which he is highly regarded internationally for being a high volume implanter, proctor, researcher and educator. He also has built up a considerable experience in cardiac device lead management including complex lead extraction when necessary.
He regularly performs and interprets electrophysiological studies and undertakes the ablation of AVNRT, AVRT,atrial flutter, ventricular ectopy, atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Outside of work, Dr Keene enjoys traveling when he can and importantly enjoys watching and playing football with his children.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, but only for certain services. Some consultations, assessments, and treatments can be booked directly, while others require a GP or specialist referral. Please check the relevant service page for guidance, and contact the centre if you’re unsure.
We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.
Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
