Dr Gayatri Mittal is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Welbeck’s Rheumatology centre in London. She manages a broad range of rheumatological conditions, with particular clinical interests in inflammatory arthritis, gout and hypermobility. Her practice also includes Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and osteoporosis, for which treatment may include zoledronate infusion.

Alongside her work at Welbeck, Dr Mittal is a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore, where she is clinical lead for the biologic and ankylosing spondylitis services, and conducts specialist clinics in spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis and hypermobility.

Dr Mittal is also an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. Her current research focuses on the design and development of targeted intra-articular therapies for arthritis, while her published work spans areas including inflammatory disorders, interleukin-17 biology and anti-tumour necrosis factor therapy in early rheumatoid arthritis.

Her specialist training in the UK included the North East Thames rheumatology rotation, a Clinical Research Fellowship in Bangor, North Wales, and a PhD at the Bone and Joint Research Unit in London. Before moving to the UK in 2002, she worked as a Senior Registrar in Rheumatology at a private tertiary centre in Mumbai, India. She received clinical excellence awards in 2016 and 2018.
