About Harbir Sidhu

Dr Harbir Sidhu is a Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and Honorary Lecturer at University College London, with a specialist interest in gastrointestinal and oncological imaging. He has extensive expertise in CT, MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopy, with particular experience in imaging of complex abdominal conditions as well as the diagnosis, staging and treatment response assessment of abdominopelvic cancers. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide accurate diagnoses and support personalised treatment planning, ensuring imaging plays a central role in delivering the highest standards of patient care.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Sidhu is an internationally recognised imaging researcher and holds a PhD in Oncological Imaging. His research focuses on developing and validating advanced MRI techniques to improve the diagnosis, characterisation and monitoring of cancer. As Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator on major national and international imaging studies, he has secured competitive research funding and leads collaborative research to advance quantitative MRI, whole-body MRI and emerging artificial intelligence applications in cancer imaging. His work has been widely published in leading peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to translating imaging innovations into routine clinical practice, helping to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

Dr Sidhu also leads oversight of trial-specific imaging reporting at UCLH, coordinating imaging assessment for oncology clinical trials using internationally recognised response criteria, including RECIST. Working closely with consultant radiologists, clinical trial teams and research sponsors, he helps ensure high-quality, standardised imaging assessment that supports the successful delivery of cutting-edge cancer research.
