About Kim Varma
Dr Kim Varma is a UK-trained, CCT-accredited Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatological Surgeon with specialist expertise in skin cancer surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery and complex facial reconstruction. She currently practises at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she delivers advanced surgical care for patients with skin cancer, particularly involving the face, head and neck.
With more than 17 years of consultant experience in dermatology, skin cancer and Mohs surgery, Dr Varma is recognised for her meticulous surgical technique and patient-centred approach. She is highly experienced in advanced reconstructive procedures, including local skin flaps and split- and full-thickness skin grafts, allowing her to achieve excellent functional and cosmetic outcomes following skin cancer surgery.
Dr Varma completed her dermatology training in the UK and undertook advanced fellowship training in dermatosurgery and Mohs surgery. She has also played an important role in education and training, previously teaching and supervising Mohs surgical fellows and resident doctors in advanced surgical techniques.
At Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Varma is responsible for complex skin surgery services and oversees outpatient surgical care, including wound management and post-operative review. She is actively involved in surgical skills training for resident doctors and supervises multidisciplinary teams within the skin cancer service. She also leads Two-Week-Wait (2WW) skin cancer clinics, working closely with residents and specialist skin cancer nurses to deliver high-quality, efficient patient care.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Varma has held several senior NHS leadership roles, including Governance Lead in Birmingham and later Clinical Lead and MDT Lead for the Cumbria region. She has extensive experience in clinical governance, service development and multidisciplinary leadership.
Dr Varma has contributed widely to academic dermatology through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings. She has served as a reviewer for leading journals including the British Journal of Dermatology and Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, and has also worked as a certified medical appraiser.
