About Oliver Seyfried
Oliver Seyfried qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School in 1999 and subsequently trained in anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at leading London teaching hospitals, including St Bartholomew’s, The Royal London, St Thomas’, King’s College and St George’s Hospitals.
He was appointed Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at St George’s Hospital in 2013. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and was awarded the GMC Credential in Specialist Pain Medicine in 2026.
His Pain Medicine practice has a particular focus on spinal pain, sciatica and cervical and lumbar radicular pain. His approach combines careful clinical assessment with review of relevant imaging to establish the likely cause of a patient’s symptoms and explain the available treatment options clearly. Treatment is individualised and may include rehabilitation, medication optimisation, image-guided pain procedures or onward surgical assessment where appropriate.
Dr Seyfried has published in the peer-reviewed Pain Medicine literature and was awarded the Faculty of Pain Medicine Trainee Publication Prize for his work on opioid-related endocrine dysfunction. He is Care Group Lead for Anaesthesia at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
