About Shuli Levy

Dr Shuli Levy is a Geriatrician and General Physician based with the Cardiology department at the Hammersmith hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She established her pioneering integrated cardio-geriatrics liaison service in 2016, which has grown to include a full clinical team, an inpatient ward and outpatient clinics, including one specialising in older people with heart failure. Her service specialises in the management of complex older patients with cardiac disease who require an holistic, tailored approach, with expertise in both cardiology and in the conditions and challenges that affect older people, such as cognitive impairment, falls and mobility problems, frailty, medication management and care planning for the future. She also manages patients with general medical and general geriatric presentations via acute medical take work and general geriatrics clinics.

Dr Levy is a regular invited speaker at both cardiology and geriatrics conferences, where she supports the cross-fertilisation of skills between the two specialties. Her service has served as a template for the creation of similar liaison services across the country.

She is on the board of the British Geriatrics Society cardiovascular group, a past observer to the British Society for Heart Failure board and past chair of the British Geriatrics Society ethics and law group. She has been invited to contribute to multiple sets of guidelines, bringing in both geriatrics and cardio-geriatrics expertise.

Dr Levy has a keen interest in clinical governance and patient safety and is currently the lead for governance across Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgery at Imperial. She regularly teaches medical students, examines for the medical school and examines for the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Levy is trusted by her patients and their loved ones, who know that she is committed to providing them with personalised, holistic care and that her starting point is not “what’s the matter” but “what matters to you?”

We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
