About Simon Anderson

Simon Anderson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, General Physician and Partner at Welbeck, specialising in endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease. He is one of foremost practitioners in his field. He founded, and now leads, the video capsule endoscopy and balloon enteroscopy service at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital. At King’s College London, he is a tutor for undergraduates and a regular teacher and clinical examiner of the postgraduate programme.

Dr Simon Anderson, MD, FRCP graduated in 1990 from the University of Cape Town, and then went on to complete his specialist training in liver diseases and intensive care at King’s College Hospital, then gastroenterology and general internal medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

He was awarded a Wellcome Institute Research Fellowship and moved on to conduct full-time research at St. Thomas’ Hospital. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of London, in 2004.

He is dual accredited in gastroenterology and general medicine and was appointed as consultant physician and gastroenterologist to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in 2006; where he leads an acute general medicine firm.

Dr Simon Anderson partnered with Welbeck Health Partners in 2018 to collaboratively develop the Welbeck Digestive Health Centre.
