About Zahir Amin

Dr Zahir Amin is a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in HPB and GI imaging and intervention. His NHS practice is at University College Hospital where his main current interests are HPB imaging and intervention.

He is the Radiology Lead for the Benign and Malignant HPB MDT at UCH, as well as the Hydatid MDT. He was previously the Radiology Lead for the Adrenal MDT and Abdominal Sarcoma MDT.

He is also on the editorial board for The British Journal of Radiology and E-medicine.com and also lectures on HPB imaging, GI stromal tumours, US/MRI Crohn’s disease, and Endoscopic Ultrasound. As a keen educator, Dr Amin has lectured and published in topics including: Pancreatic imaging and intervention; Liver imaging; GI stromal tumours; Acute Pancreatitis; MRCP; Pancreatic cancer; Management of pancreatic cysts; Imaging cholangiocarcinomas; Endoscopic ultrasound; CT colonography; Crohn’s disease ultrasound and MRI assessment.

Personal Biography

Dr Zahir Amin was trained in Radiology at UCH, where he completed his MD thesis on image guided liver tumour laser ablation. He later became a Consultant at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital where his main interest was GI Luminal imaging including Barium studies, CT colonography and Small Bowel MRI & ultrasound, and where he also developed an Endoscopic Ultrasound service. In 2002, he was appointed Consultant Radiologist at UCH and is currently Radiology Lead for the Benign and Malignant HPB MDT, as well as the Hydatid MDT.
