About Neera Balachandren
Miss Neera Balachandren is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) accredited Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).
She specialises in all aspects of fertility, including fertility preservation and reproductive surgery. She also has expertise in menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), endometriosis and menstrual problems, caring for women at every stage of their reproductive lives.
She has advanced skills in fertility ultrasound, including 3D saline infusion sonography (3D SIS) and hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy) to assess the uterus and fallopian tubes, and performs diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy.
Miss Balachandren graduated from UCL Medical School with a distinction in MBBS and a first-class iBSc in Pharmacology. She completed her specialist training in South London, followed by a clinical research fellowship and subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine at UCLH.
At UCLH, she is Deputy Lead for Fertility Preservation and for the NHS England Ovarian and Testicular Tissue Cryopreservation Programme (South). In these roles, she helps develop services that protect the future fertility of patients facing cancer treatment and other conditions that threaten reproductive function.
Her research focuses on fertility preservation and ovarian reserve, and her work has been published in journals including Human Reproduction Update. She has co-authored national guidelines for the British Fertility Society, where she also teaches on the ultrasound course.
A committed educator, she is Year 5 Women's Health Module Lead at UCL Medical School, and teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at UCL.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
