Annakan Navaratnam is a consultant ENT Surgeon whose private practice is based at Welbeck Hospital in Central London. In his NHS practice, he works at Royal National ENT Hospital, University College London Hospital (UCLH) and is an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He has a subspeciality interest in rhinology and facial plastic surgery with particular expertise in septorhinoplasty and nose reshaping surgery.
He runs a tertiary rhinology NHS practice and receives referrals from across the country. He runs dedicated adult rhinology clinics managing nasal conditions including nasal blockage, allergy, and sinus disease and works as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside allergy, respiratory and rheumatology specialists.
He is part of the Craniofacial team at UCLH where he works with Ophthalmologists, Neurosurgeons and Maxillo-Facial and Plastic surgeons in the management of complex craniofacial presentations such as patients with cleft lip/palate and congenital syndromes. He also has a specialist clinic at Great Ormond Street Hospital specifically dedicated to seeing children with problems related to their nose.
Annakan is excellently placed to manage general adult and paediatric ENT presentations and in particular, is able to assess and treat complex problems related to the form and function of the nose. This includes endonasal (scarless) rhinoplasty, revision septorhinoplasty as well as advanced endoscopic sinus surgery.
He trained at Imperial College School of Medicine and completed higher surgical training in the North Thames Deanery (London). He completed the Royal College of Surgeons post CCT Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital, London. He has also worked as a Leadership fellow at NHS England. During this time, he led national projects aimed at improving the medical treatment of patients with COVID 19 in hospitals which gained national recognition.
Annakan is actively involved in training the next generation of surgeons. He regularly volunteers to give talks to schoolchildren about medicine as a career. He mentors medical students and junior doctors as well as being a clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees in ENT. He frequently teaches on local and national instructional ENT courses and is an invited speaker at international conferences.
His research interests include improving patient education through shared decision-making, evaluating sinonasal surgery outcomes using large national datasets and the adoption of innovation into surgical practice. He has written six NHS England national clinical guidelines, authored over 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been awarded 13 prizes for his clinical and academic endeavours.
Annakan was born and brought up in London. He lives with his family in London, and they enjoy everything the city has to offer and as well as enjoying travel abroad. Annakan is a keen sportsman, having played rugby and cricket at a regional representative level. His main pursuits outside of work are now supporting his young children in their sporting and artistic endeavours.

We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.
Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
