About Francesc Malagelada
Mr Francesc Malagelada is a fellowship trained Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon, who specialises exclusively in treating disorders of the foot and ankle. Alongside Welbeck, Mr Malagelada practices at The Royal London Hospital, the UK’s largest trauma centre. He has a particular expertise in sports injuries, foot deformities and complex trauma cases.
By adopting an individualised approach to patient care, personal needs and preferences are addressed and included in the treatment plan. When indicated, he performs minimally invasive surgery (MIS) or arthroscopy (keyhole) using the latest techniques at Welbeck Orthopaedics.
He was awarded the esteemed ESSKA-AFAS international fellowship aimed at young promising orthopaedic surgeons in the field of Foot & Ankle.
After qualifying from medical school at the University of Barcelona in 2005, Francesc Malagelada undertook his Trauma and Orthopaedics training in Spain and the UK at the most prestigious institutions including The Royal London and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
To gain further specialised expertise, he completed his BOFAS accredited Foot & Ankle fellowship in Windsor. He has travelled to international centres of excellence in the USA, Switzerland, Germany, and France to expand his knowledge and nurture from distinguished overseas experts.
Since 2017 he has been practising as a consultant at The Royal London Hospital where he joined a world-renowned team of orthopaedic surgeons.
He currently serves as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, teaching on a Masters degree in orthopaedic trauma sciences.
