About Simon Glasgow
Mr Simon Glasgow is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Welbeck Heart Health. His NHS practice is based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as well as Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he also serves as Head of Vascular Surgery.
At Welbeck, Mr Glasgow specialises in the diagnosis and management of arterial and venous disease. He offers on-site surgery and clinic-based treatments for varicose veins and thread veins, utilising a wide range of modern, minimally invasive endovenous and microsurgical techniques to deliver a comprehensive clinical service tailored to individual patient needs.
Mr Glasgow trained in medicine at University College London and has over two decades of clinical experience within the NHS. He holds postgraduate qualifications in both emergency medicine and surgery, completing his specialist training at London’s leading teaching hospitals. His experience from UK practice, combined with Fellowship training abroad, has given him extensive expertise in all areas of vascular surgery. He is committed to delivering evidence-based practice, integrating innovative, quality-assured surgical techniques with a focus on patient safety and outcomes at all times.
In addition to being a highly regarded clinician, Mr Glasgow is an established academic, holding Senior Clinical Lecturer positions at two Russell Group universities;Queen Mary University of London and Imperial College London, where he is also Lead for Undergraduate Education in Vascular Surgery. He completed his PhD in 2016 and subsequently became an academic advisor to NHS Blood and Transplant, contributing to the development of national policy and guidelines for transfusion services across the UK. He is widely published in book chapters and leading international scientific journals. His research is supported by competitive grants from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Royal College of Surgeons of England, earning him national and international recognition.
Beyond the UK, Mr Glasgow works around the world as a Humanitarian Surgeon. Through his additional qualifications in Global Health and Disaster Management, he provides care and training in resource-limited and challenging environments. He is attentive to the diverse cultural and personal needs of his patients and is committed to delivering care in an ethical and respectful manner.
Mr Glasgow believes strongly in working closely with his patients to explain their condition and treatment options, ensuring they feel confident and informed at every stage. He provides sound clinical judgement through clear communication and personalised treatment plans, supporting patients from initial consultation through to recovery and long-term vascular health.
