
About Alka Bhide
Alka Bhide is a highly experienced consultant gynaecologist with subspecialist expertise in urogynaecology. She qualified in 2004 from the Royal Free and University College London School of Medicine, where she developed a strong academic and clinical foundation. Following her initial training, she undertook advanced subspecialist training in urogynaecology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the UK’s leading centres for specialist women’s health. She was appointed as a consultant gynaecologist at the Trust in 2022.
Dr Bhide also holds a Medical Doctorate (MD) from Imperial College London. Her research focused on the innovative use of urinary biomarkers in the assessment and management of lower urinary tract symptoms, contributing important insights to this evolving field. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications as well as more recent educational texts, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing knowledge and improving clinical practice. She remains an active contributor to the academic community and regularly presents her work at both national and international conferences.
Clinically, Dr Bhide provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for a wide range of urogynaecological conditions. She has extensive experience in both conservative and surgical treatments for urinary incontinence, pelvic organ (vaginal) prolapse, and bladder pain syndrome. Her practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine, with a strong emphasis on tailoring treatment plans to individual patient needs and preferences.
In addition, she is highly skilled in ambulatory urogynaecology procedures, including flexible cystoscopy, allowing for efficient diagnosis and management in an outpatient setting. Dr Bhide is known for her clear communication style, compassionate approach, and dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes. She is committed to improving quality of life for women experiencing pelvic floor disorders through expert, personalised care.
