About Guri Sandhu

Professor Gurpreet (Guri) Sandhu MBBS MD FRCS (ORL-HNS) is a consultant otolaryngologist and head & neck surgeon at Welbeck and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, The Royal Brompton and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals.

Professor Sandhu provides medical and surgical expertise in the management of all common Ear, Nose and Throat problems, in adults and children. His NHS practice for adults is at Charing Cross Hospital, and he provides a full paediatric ENT service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He has a special interest in disorders of the voice, airway and swallowing. Founder and lead for the National Centre for Airway Reconstruction at Charing cross Hospital, he runs multi-disciplinary voice, airway and swallowing clinics.

A graduate in Medicine from the University of London in 1990, he completed his training in ENT at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and in Paediatric ENT at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He obtained the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Otolaryngology (FRCS ORL-HNS) in 2001 and a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in 2011. He has over 150 peer reviewed research publications and has written 15 book chapters and 3 medical text books. He lectures nationally and internationally and has an active research programme in Laryngology.

He has been awarded a National NHS Clinical Excellence Award, a Clinical Professorship in Laryngology at Imperial College London, a Fellowship of the American Laryngological Association, an honorary fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music, and an Honorary Fellowship of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. These are in recognition of research, education and the management of throat problems and the professional voice.

Professor Sandhu is Past-President and co-founder of The British Laryngological Association (BLA) and Past-President for Section of Laryngology and Rhinology at the Royal Society of Medicine. He is the fourth recipient of the Isshiki prize, given every two years to an ENT surgeon selected from across the world, who have made an outstanding contribution to Laryngology.
