About Richard Schilling
Professor Richard Schilling is a consultant cardiologist at Welbeck Health, specialising in arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation.
He has been closely involved in the evolution and development of atrial fibrillation since its inception, and performs 200+ AF ablations each year. He has also been widely published for his research focusing on improving outcomes and safety of catheter ablation.
He is a professor of cardiology and electrophysiology at St Bart’s Hospital, where he is also director for strategy and commercial. He is also president of the British Heart Rhythm Society and served as the treasurer of the British Heart Rhythm Association.
He also helped establish two patient charities: the Arrhythmia Alliance and Atrial Fibrillation Association, and serves as their medical director.
“I joined Welbeck Health as much of my later academic career has focused on improving outcomes for patients. Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
