About Abhishek Joshi
Dr. Abhishek Joshi completed a degree in PPP from the University of Oxford, before returning to study Medicine (Fast-Track), graduating in 2008. He completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Systems Biology from King's College, London in 2019 before completing his cardiology training at the prestigious Bart's Heart Centre in 2021. He now works as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Bart's Heart Centre, on of Europe's top cardiovascular hospitals. There he is the Deputy Clinical Director for Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Clinical Lead for Cardiology Diagnostics Research Governance. He holds an Honorary Fellowship research position at University College, London, and is the Senior Medical Officer for Cardiology at SwissRe.
Dr. Joshi believes his role as a doctor is in maximising his patients' freedom to choose their own best treatment course. In this, he provides his considerable experience, knowledge, skill, access to cutting-edge diagnostic testing and broad referral network, synthesising these with his patient's perspectives, to personalise their journey. He has world class experience in preventive cardiology, including molecular and genetic assessments of high cholesterol, lipoprotein (a), diabetes and hypertension. He is also an expert in heart valve disease, diagnosing and managing conditions such as aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation. As a general cardiologist, he has broad experience in diagnosing the causes of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and faints.
He has extensive research experience, receiving his PhD at King's College, London, and funded by a highly competitive Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the British Heart Foundation. He has published over 50 peer reviewed articles which have been cited thousands of times by his peers. He continues to undertake clinical research, investigating the causes of premature heart disease in South Asian populations (and hosting a podcast on the subject), and in AI in cardiovascular medicine.
He has considerable experience in leadership roles, and was elected by his peers as Vice President of the British Cardiovascular Society (2022-2025), and as President of the British Junior Cardiologists' Assocation (2018-2020). Reflecting his contributions to the field, he was elected Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Senior Fellow of the British Cardiovascular Society.
While he is professionally and academically accomplished, Dr. Joshi's greatest strengths are as a communicator. He is welcoming and friendly, and able to guide his patients carefully through their healthcare journey. Patients value his caring, compassionate and thoughtful approach, and find his ability to listen as valuable as his deep medical expertise.

We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.
Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
