About Faidon Laskaratos

Dr Faidon Laskaratos is a consultant gastroenterologist and specialist endoscopist at OneWelbeck London. He is also a consultant specialist endoscopist at St Mark's, The National Bowel Hospital, and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. Dr Laskaratos completed his gastroenterology training in the North Central & North East Thames rotation in London and worked in several tertiary hospitals, including the Royal Free and University College Hospital. Dr Faidon Laskaratos then completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, where he trained in advanced colonoscopy techniques, polyp resection and small bowel enteroscopy, before his substantive appointment as a consultant gastroenterologist and specialist endoscopist at St Mark’s.

Dr Laskaratos' clinical interests include general and luminal gastroenterology. He specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic luminal and small bowel endoscopy, including advanced colonoscopy, polypectomy, video capsule endoscopy and small bowel enteroscopy. Dr Laskaratos is an accredited colonoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. He is also a specialist member of the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) advisory committee for colon capsule endoscopy.

Additionally, he has a clinical and research interest and expertise in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumours. Dr Laskaratos completed a PhD in Gastroenterology at University College London (UCL), which investigated the biology of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumours and has published widely in this field. He also has a strong interest in teaching and has completed a Masters degree (MSc) in medical education at UCL. He is an accredited trainer for medical students, gastroenterology trainees and fellows.
