About Lisa Das

Dr Lisa Das is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at OneWelbeck and an expert specialising in endoscopy, colonoscopy and general gastroenterology. She is a nationally accredited bowel cancer screening endoscopist.

She is particularly interested in providing efficient, easy to access and personalised care for patients. This focuses on the all important clinical continuity for patients from consultation to investigation. She has a particular interest in the early diagnosis of digestive disorders and cancers with over 23 years of experience from USA and UK.

“Traditionally in the UK gastroenterology & endoscopy is performed in hospital resulting in a time consuming and often frustrating patient journey. The purpose of OneWelbeck Digestive Health is to provide seamless, excellent specialist care in a way that emphasises health, prevention and wellbeing, as well as treating digestive diseases”.

Dr Das is especially excited about collaborating with similarly minded colleagues at One Welbeck in keeping alive the passion to provide superior services.

Dr Lisa Das has featured in various publications during her time at OneWelbeck. You can read a selection of them here:

Formerly at the Royal London Hospital Barts Health NHS Trust where Dr Lisa Das had the privilege to be the UK’s first Community Gastroenterology Consultant. She trained at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, London before completing her medical residency in Boston, USA. Subsequently she completed subspecialist training in gastroenterology at Columbia University, New York in 1997 and currently holds both Board Certification in Gastroenterology (USA) and full accreditation on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register in Gastroenterology.

When Dr Das returned home to London in 2007, she became familiar with the gastroenterology landscape in the UK and quickly noted that outpatient centres would be beneficial for service provision. She became a consultant at the Royal London Hospital in 2009, and since then has been involved in improving service provision and access, as well as developing straight to test pathways to reduce the time from referral to treatment.

She focuses on providing clinically excellent care with a kind, friendly approach for both men and women. She strongly believes that medicine requires a very personal approach, especially when related to bowel and gut problems. She welcomes enquiries from clients specifically seeking a female gastroenterologist, allowing for a focussed emphasis on women’s health.

“When I returned to the UK, my main aspiration was to develop an outpatient endoscopy/gastroenterology facility. I had experience in setting up an ambulatory centre in the USA which was the most professionally stimulating venture I have undertaken”.
