About Matthew Foxton

Dr Foxton holds clinical posts as a Consultant Hepatologist and Clinical Lead at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and is an Honorary Consultant at the renowned Institute of Liver Studies at Kings College Hospital, London as well as being an honorary consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital where he has a special interest in the management of the liver complications of cancer therapy. He is the Co-Lead for the Hepatology Clinical Research Network in West London and actively participates in both commercial and portfolio studies.

Dr Foxton, qualified in medicine from St George’s Hospital, London. He completed his training in general internal medicine and gastroenterology at South-East London, with sub-specialty accreditation in hepatology. He obtained his MD from the University of London with his thesis on HCV recurrence post-liver transplantation. He was appointed as a consultant at QEH Woolwich in 2007 where he developed one of the first NHS-funded Fibroscan services within the country. He was appointed to a consultant post at Chelsea & Westminster in 2010.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
