About Panagiotis Vlavianos
Dr Panagiotis Vlavianos is a consultant physician and gastroenterologist at Welbeck Health, specialising in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and hepatobiliary medicine.
Dr Vlavianos has extensive experience in gastroenterology. He regularly treats complex cases and teaches endoscopic techniques to junior and senior gastroenterology trainees.
He performs a large number of endoscopic procedures every year, including more than 300 gastroscopies, 300 colonoscopies, 400 EUS and 200 ERCPs.
He is also responsible for setting up the renowned EUS service at Hammersmith Hospital in 2005, which is now a tertiary referral centre for patients.

Dr Panagiotis Vlavianos PhD, is a consultant physician and gastroenterologist at the Hammersmith Hospital Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
After completing his initial training in Greece, Dr Vlavianos completed his training at King’s College Hospital, London. He then returned to Greece to practise general medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology in Athens.
He returned to London in 1996, working initially as an associate specialist in gastroenterology at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. In 2005, he was appointed as a consultant physician & gastroenterologist at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he continues to work.
Since 2013, he has also been employed by the Royal Marsden Hospital to direct and develop their EUS service.
He currently teaches endoscopic techniques to junior and senior gastroenterology trainees, and is the clinical and educational supervisor for junior doctors at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Dr Vlavianos achieved his PhD on Haemodynamic and pharmacodynamics studies in patients with liver disease and portal hypertension, in 1993 at the University of Crete.
He has published numerous original scientific papers, edited book chapters and a number of research papers in peer-reviewed, internationally acclaimed journals.
