Dr Simon Peake is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Welbeck’s Digestive Health centre in London. His practice covers endoscopy and the diagnosis and management of a wide range of digestive conditions. He commonly sees patients with acid reflux and heartburn, abdominal pain, bloating, chronic diarrhoea, gastrointestinal bleeding and changes in bowel habit. He also has particular expertise in the ongoing management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease.

Dr Peake has extensive experience in endoscopy and gastrointestinal investigation. Investigations available through his practice include gastroscopy, colonoscopy, video capsule endoscopy, oesophageal pH testing and breath testing. He also provides endoscopic treatment where appropriate, including polyp removal and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).

Alongside his Welbeck practice, Dr Peake leads the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, chairing its weekly multidisciplinary meetings and running the biological therapy service. He is the Trust’s lead physician for inflammatory bowel disease and is also unit and endoscopy training lead at St Mary’s Hospital.

Dr Peake is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at Imperial College London, where he is a clinical examiner for undergraduate examinations and lectures and mentors postgraduate students. He partnered with Welbeck in 2018 to develop the Digestive Health centre and has been involved in establishing the clinic and its services from an early stage. He remains particularly involved in patient engagement with the centre, helping to ensure that clear, accurate and informative specialist information is available to patients before, during and after their care at Welbeck.
