About Simon Peake

Dr Simon Peake is Consultant Gastroenterologist and Partner at Welbeck, specialising in endoscopy, the management of acid-related disorders, reflux, abdominal pain, change in bowel habit and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College, where he is also a clinical examiner. He leads the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, chairing weekly multi disciplinary meetings and running the biological therapy service.

Dr Peake has been involved in setting up the clinic and its services from a very early stage. He is particularly integral in patient engagement with the unit, ensuring accurate and informative specialist information is available for patients before, during and after attending Welbeck.

After attaining a first class honours degree and distinction at St Mary’s Hospital, he trained at several hospitals throughout Northwest London. During his training, he also undertook specialist fellowships in endoscopy (2012-2013) and inflammatory bowel disease (2010-2011) at St Mark’s Hospital. He was appointed as a research fellow at St Mark’s Hospital and Imperial College London and was awarded an MD(Res) degree in 2014 with his thesis entitled ‘Aberrant Expression of Homing Molecules on Dendritic Cells Drives Inflammation in Crohn’s Disease’.

He was appointed a Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in 2015. Since his appointment at Imperial, he has taken on the roles of both Unit and Endoscopy training lead at St Mary’s Hospital. He is the lead physician for inflammatory bowel disease for the Trust. In addition, he has active roles within Imperial College, both as an examiner for undergraduate examinations and lecturing and mentoring postgraduate students.

Dr Simon Peake partnered with Welbeck in 2018 to collaboratively develop the Welbeck Digestive Health Centre.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
