About Rej Bhumbra
Mr Rej Bhumbra has been working as a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon in London since 2012. He trained at St. Mary’s Hospital medical school (now Imperial College) and has undergone orthopaedic surgical training both domestically and abroad. He has a First-Class Honours in Orthopaedic Sciences as well as an Orthopaedic PhD for which he received the gold medal for Best New Innovative Technology in 1999.
Mr Bhumbra has authored multiple papers and books in the field of global health, orthopaedics and trauma. He was an editor at the British Medical Journal and has an interest in health technology and artificial intelligence for the benefit of patients and scientific applications. He has experience in device regulation, working both in governmental and corporate contexts. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Bhumbra was honoured to have been appointed as Deputy Lieutenant to the Lord Lieutenancy of Greater London.
Rej collaborates in a multidisciplinary setting alongside expert colleagues in surgery, radiology and physiotherapy and uses the latest techniques to offer his patients the best possible outcomes. He prides himself as being an approachable and caring consultant.
In the NHS, Rej works across the Barts Health Trust network including at the Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre in Newham Hospital. He was the Clinical Network Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics across the Northeast London Network. Privately, Mr Bhumbra operates at the Day Surgical Unit of Welbeck Orthopaedics in Marylebone, the London Orthopaedic Clinic for Mayo Clinic Healthcare, as well as The Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood for patients requiring in-patient admission.

It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
