About Lizzy Egbase

Miss Lizzy Egbase is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based in London, with over 17 years of clinical experience. She specialises in acute and emergency gynaecology, menstrual disorders, and ambulatory gynaecological care, with particular expertise in the management of heavy and painful periods, ovarian cysts, fibroids, contraception, and early pregnancy complications. She is known for delivering precise, efficient, and personalised care, with a strong emphasis on clarity, reassurance, and clinical excellence.

Her NHS practice is based at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, where she holds a number of senior leadership roles. These include Labour Ward Lead, Junior Doctor Rota Consultant Lead, Simulation Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Barts Health Education Academy, Year 4 Lead for Queen Mary University of London, and Regional Teaching Lead for the London School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology across North East and Central Thames. She is widely recognised for her dynamic and forward-thinking leadership, and is a committed advocate for equitable women’s health and the reduction of health inequalities.

Miss Egbase has particular expertise in advanced gynaecological diagnostics. She is highly skilled in gynaecological ultrasound, which she uses as an integral part of her clinical practice to provide accurate, real-time assessment of pelvic pathology. This enables her to deliver a streamlined, one-stop approach to care, often combining consultation, investigation, and diagnosis within a single visit.

She is also highly experienced in outpatient hysteroscopy, offering “see and treat” procedures for the management of intrauterine conditions such as endometrial polyps and abnormal uterine bleeding. These procedures are performed with a strong focus on patient comfort and frequently avoid the need for general anaesthesia.

Miss Egbase trained at the University of London, obtaining her MBBS in 2009 alongside an intercalated BSc in the History of Medicine. She also holds a Master’s degree with Distinction in Medical Education in a Clinical Context from Queen Mary University of London. She completed her specialist training across a number of leading UK institutions, including a senior trainee role at a tertiary centre in Brighton.

In addition to her clinical work, she has a strong academic and educational profile, with publications in both gynaecology and medical education. Her work includes research on racial disparities in early pregnancy outcomes and on optimising infection prevention in gynaecological care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miss Egbase is a member of the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She is committed to delivering the highest standards of evidence-based care, ensuring that every patient feels listened to, informed, and confident in their treatment journey.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
