More information

Contraceptive coils (IUS)

The contraceptive coil, or IUS, is a highly effective and long-lasting form of contraception. Our experienced consultants provide coil insertion and removal as a one-stop service and will guide you through the process, addressing any concerns and ensuring you make an informed decision that aligns with your lifestyle.

Oral contraceptives

Oral contraceptives, commonly referred to as "the pill", are one of the most common forms of contraception used in the UK and are considered highly effective. As well as preventing pregnancy, the pill can also make periods lighter and less painful, and in some cases can also help with premenstrual symptoms. Our consultant will discuss the available options with you, helping you to choose the best option based on your individual needs and circumstances. At every stage, our experts prioritise your comfort and well-being, ensuring you have accurate information to make confident choices.

Intrauterine devices (IUD)

Non-hormonal IUDs, such as the copper IUD, are small, T-shaped devices that are inserted into the uterus. The copper acts as a spermicide, preventing fertilisation. Copper IUDs provide long-term contraception and can last for up to 10 years. At Welbeck, our consultants provide coil insertion and removal as a one-stop service.

Barrier methods

While condoms are widely recognised, additional barrier methods like caps, diaphragms, and the female condom exist. These methods offer a level of protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including serious conditions like hepatitis and HIV. However, a significant drawback for many is that these barriers must be used at the time of intercourse, and if not employed correctly, they may have a higher failure rate compared to other contraception methods.

For those considering permanent contraception, our vasectomy services provide a safe and effective option for those who have completed their family or have decided not to have children. Our leading urologists offer permanent male contraception in the form of painless, no-scalpel vasectomy and also perform vasectomy reversal procedures (vasovasostomy) to restore fertility if required. Our specialists offer expert advice, ensuring you have a clear understanding of the procedure and its implications.

At Welbeck, our experienced gynaecologists and urologists are experts in their field and are dedicated to providing world-class care to every patient.

With access to colleagues across other specialities, our consultants are also able to refer within the Welbeck ecosystem if required to ensure you receive the treatment you need as quickly as possible, all under one roof.

All appointments, testing, treatment, and follow-up appointments take place within our state-of-the-art facilities, enabling us to deliver accurate diagnostics and advanced treatments.
