About Iranthi Meththananda

Miss Iranthi Meththananda is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist known for her calm, thoughtful approach and her commitment to holistic, patient-centred care. With a dual background in high-level scientific research and clinical medicine, she combines a rigorous evidence-based mindset with a warm, reassuring bedside manner, ensuring her patients feel fully informed and supported at every stage of their journey.

A Commitment to Diagnostic Excellence

Central to Miss Meththananda’s practice is the belief that diagnostic excellence is the foundation of successful treatment. She brings a precision-led approach to her work, refined during a competitive Fellowship in Gynaecology Diagnostics at University College London Hospital (UCLH). By integrating advanced high-level pelvic ultrasound directly into her consultations, she provides rapid, accurate diagnoses for complex conditions such as endometriosis and adenomyosis, often providing patients with clarity and a management plan in a single visit.

Clinical Expertise & Academic Foundation

Miss Meththananda’s clinical expertise spans fertility, early pregnancy, pelvic pain, and minimally invasive surgery. Her academic journey began with a PhD at Barts & The London School of Medicine, where she studied microbiome development—an early indication of her career-long interest in precision diagnostics and personalised care. She earned her medical degree from University College London (UCL) and completed the Academic Foundation Programme at Imperial College Healthcare. Currently a Consultant at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, where she serves as the Fertility Lead, Miss Meththananda also specialises in rapid-access diagnostics for gynaecology. She is a passionate educator, teaching at a national level to ensure the next generation of clinicians maintains her high standards of compassionate, evidence-based care.
