Why choose Welbeck for paediatric imaging and diagnostics?

At Welbeck, we recognise that children may feel anxious about tests and procedures. Our radiologists and imaging specialists focus on gentle communication and careful explanation to help them feel at ease throughout the process. We use advanced on-site diagnostic technology to gather high-quality information quickly, so clinical teams can make informed decisions about your child’s care. We also work closely with paediatric clinicians across specialties to ensure joined-up care from first referral through results and treatment planning.

Paediatric conditions & symptoms we assess

Our paediatric imaging and diagnostics team supports clinical investigation across a broad range of symptoms, including persistent pain, unexplained swelling, trauma following injury, and recurrent infections.

Paediatric imaging & diagnostic tests & techniques

We offer a full range of paediatric imaging and diagnostic techniques, including X-ray, high-resolution ultrasound, CT, and MRI*. Where recommended, we also support image-guided procedures. All tests are carried out using child-appropriate protocols to minimise discomfort and exposure by clinical teams trained in paediatric care. *Age ranges vary for some tests, such as MRI, which is available to children aged 7+. Frequently asked questions

If your child is having blood tests, you can stay with them throughout. Your child can also sit on your lap if this helps them feel more comfortable.

If your child is having an imaging test, like an X-ray or MRI, the radiographer will advise on the safety measures required. It’s not always possible for you to stay with your child for these types of tests. If you’re unsure, please contact the centre ahead of time for information.

If a cannula is required to properly perform a test, we’ll make that you’re made aware of this ahead of time. A numbing cream called EMLA cream can be applied before cannula insertion – please arrive 1 hour early if this is required. We may also use freeze spray for those over 12 years of age.
